In early 2014 I was invited to the launch of Peggy Porschen’s new cake collection at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Knightsbridge. The event was beautiful and I was delighted to get the chance to meet Peggy herself. And the cake… Oh the cake was to die for! I soon discovered that she has a shop located in Belgravia where you can enjoy cupcake versions of her delicious cake flavours, along with coffee and macaroons. Naturally I had to investigate!

I visited twice before remembering to take my camera – completely side tracked by the excitement of being able to enjoy another strawberry-champagne cupcake – but when I did remember, it was completely worth it!

The shop is located on a pretty street with seating both inside and outside. The shop itself is pink, with high ceilings and stunning details. A lot of the newly engaged couples I work with are keen on a slightly different location for photos and, in my opinion, the shop also happens to be the perfect place for an engagement shoot. These are my top 3 reasons why:

1. You get to do something together.

I find that it is always better to plan your engagement shoot around doing something together. Most couples don’t usually dress up to have someone else take photo’s of them and just being able to hold your tea cup will help you relax. Most men in particular don’t enjoy having their photo taken so having tea and cake is also something ‘normal’ to do which I find usually helps distract from the fact that they are having photo’s done.

2. It’s a quirky and beautiful place.

As I said earlier, the shop is pink with pastel coloured accents inside. There is SO much to work with and having a beautiful location always helps to set the scene for your whole shoot. The added bonus with Peggy Porschen is that you have the option of shooting both inside and outside.

3. You get to eat the cake!

Oh of all the possible reasons to go, Peggy’s delicious cakes should really be at the top of the list. I would recommend ordering a couple different flavours too. They make great props for your shoot and if you can’t finish them all, they do a really cute take away box too.

So if that hasn’t got your mouth watering and wanting to plan a shoot and pay Peggy a visit, I don’t know what will!

Much love,

Maxeen
