On Thursday last week I went to have a frappe at the most wonderful little café in Paphos… Vintage Art House.

I think I fell in love with the place long before I walked through the font door. It looks a lot like someone’s home and it’s front garden was literally overflowing with beautiful purple flowers.

The furniture and décor inside is a mix-and-match of everything from old TV’s and type writers to paintings, photography books, vintage camera’s (be still my beating heart!) and a collection of postcards from all over the world.

I absolutely LOVE getting postcards (yes… I’m a bit of a nerd). Like literally, I think it would completely make my week if I received one. So when I walked through the door and discovered half a wall full of postcards I couldn’t help but smile. I must have spent at least 20 minutes photographing and looking through the collection. I even found one from the next destination I’ll be visiting… Greece!

I loved the fact that every room was decorated slightly differently with subtle tones of blue bringing everything together. Each room contained something that reminded me of my childhood, whether it be an old TV, a typewriters (similar to the one my grandmother had owned) or just the shelves of miss-matched ornaments. One room had an entire wall wall-papered with old newspapers – and it looked amazing!

One of the other rooms had a chalk board for a wall and it was filled with quotes from various films. I had recently been worried about a few things and when I walked in and looked up I literally laughed out loud at what was written on the wall… A quote from Van Wilder (the movie that made Ryan Reynolds the only blond I will ever find attractive).

Worrying is like a rocking chair. It gives you something to do, but it doesn’t get you anywhere. ~ Van Wilder (2002)

Can you guess who gave up worrying right there and then? Who would have thought that a movie with the words ‘Party Liaison’ in the title would actually be able to teach me something about life.

It would be wrong to mention the Vintage Art House and not talk about Sasha… She is the resident cat and if you visit, it won’t take you long to figure out that she is actually the boss. She seems to like the most sunny room in the house and has made the couch in the corner her office. You may share her couch if you are good and if you give her tummy tickles.

The truly magical part about this little place is what you will find if you go into the back garden… The whole area is set up for outdoor films and gigs with a large screen set up at one end with tables at the other. So whether you are coming during the day and want to catch a tan or if you come in the evening to enjoy the entertainment, the back garden is definitely the place to be.

If the décor, entertainment and possibility of meeting Sasha isn’t enough to get you through the door, they also make a pretty awesome frappe. In short, this has got to be one of the best café discoveries I have ever made and it has single handedly inspired all the décor for my future home.
