As far as destination weddings go, Martin and Rose’s Emily Moon wedding had it all! Amazing venue all the way in South Africa, quirky décor, traditional Scottish hand tying, vows which included ‘I promise to always make you scrambled eggs in bed on a Saturday morning’ and the most wonderful couple in love. I honestly cannot tell you how much fun I had shooting this wedding and how excited I am to finally be blogging it.
Rose is originally from South Africa and Martin from Scotland, so I was interested to find out how they decided on the stunning Emily Moon River Lodge in Plettenberg Bay as their venue.
Rose: I have always loved Plett due to spending many childhood holidays in and around the area. I was drawn to Emily moon from a photo of their lunch and view that a friend of mine showed me and my mind was made up! The attention to detail in the décor, the amazing view and professional staff made the decision an easy one and they didn’t disappoint on the day, everything ran perfectly and we had the best day!
So on a warm day in March, starting with a thunder storm but clearing up into sunshine, this bit of magic happened…
I also asked Rose what piece of advice she would give other brides planning a destination wedding?
Rose: Make sure that you have people (friends and family preferably) to support you who are near to your venue location and are willing to make follow up calls and visits to the venue and suppliers, as it’s not always easy to find the time when you are in a different country. Also, make sure you book reputable suppliers who are organised and professional before and on the day! All my suppliers were amazing and I felt that I was in safe hands throughout the planning and on my wedding day, so thank you to all of you!
