I always feel it’s a great honour to be asked to be a couples wedding photographer. Hearing the story of how you met. Being let in on all of your exciting plans. Meeting you over coffee or Skype. The connection and the trust that forms during the build up to your big day – it’s something special and it’s why I love my job.
But this wedding was truly special because it was Kristy’s wedding. Kristy was one of my first flatmates in London. I was only 20 and she was one of the first people I met when I walked into the house. I remember going for dinner with her year’s later, when she first met Julien. I remember hearing all about their first date, about moving in, about the proposal and then their baby. So to be asked to capture their wedding was amazing.
Their special day took place at the beautiful Belair House in the early summer last year. With a pallet of white, green and various tones of blue, the décor was fresh and bright – the perfect look to compliment the light and airy feel of Belair House. Their celebration was a mix of French style and Australian relaxed hospitality. Not ones to let their little boy miss out – they included the children and Kristy and her dad shared a father-daughter dance that bought a tear to my eye.
To Kristy and Julien, thank you for asking me to cover your wedding. It was such a pleasure. Of the multitude of beautiful images, this is a selection of my favourites.
If you’re planning your own wedding in the UK or abroad and would like to talk to me about becoming your wedding photographer, please drop me a line. I would love to hear from you and help you create memories you can treasure forever.
